What Makes Investing In The Stock Market Hard?

Stock Market Starters Blog/What Makes Investing In The Stock Market Hard?

Investing is not as difficult as most people think, so what makes it hard for people to do on their own? The truth is that people are what make it hard, and here's why:

Investing is much more simple than most people think and expect it to be. The truth is that it's not actually that hard to learn, especially when guided by someone who has some experience and can guide you.

The part about investing that is difficult is taking the first step... making the decision to begin... and committing to the journey of learning how to become an investor for yourself. Most of us have heard the saying that "A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step" and the truth is, investing is the same way.

What's hard about investing is not finding the right stocks to buy, doing analysis on them, or pushing the buttons to actually buy and sell. Those things can all be learned and over time can become almost second-nature. Where a lot of people fail is actually the starting line...

They feel lost or think that investing might be hard, so they struggle with initiating action, and end up procrastinating time and time again because of their fear or lack of confidence.

What starts out as an idea to take control of their finances and their dreams of becoming an investor for themselves ends up just waiting for them year after year as they let the opportunity to get started pass right by them.

Where most people stop is really where they should be just getting started, and that is so often because they are worried about the 'unknown dangers' in the market.

If you don't want to end up like most people who want to become an investor but quit before they can ever begin, here are a few ways that might help you take action and get started without feeling overwhelmed:

  • Learn from someone who understands the market and can guide you to get started
  • Start small. It doesn't take one huge investment to get started. Even if you just have $50 to invest, you can buy your first stock.
  • Buy into a company you already know. There are a lot of well-known companies that you can choose from, so just come up with 2 or 3 companies you like and try buying one of them to start off.
  • Prepare yourself to be consistent. It is the small, simple actions that we take over and over again that can really change things in our lives. Start off simple, and over time allow yourself to learn and grow. You might be surprised how far you go in 1 or 2 or 5 or 10 years, all because you made the decision to just get started.

If you want to become an investor, don't let life get in the way. Make the decision today to get started with something. Go sign up for a course, open an investing account, or decide exactly how much money you are going to put into your first investment, even if it's only a little bit.

Whatever you decide to do, make the decision, and take action today to make it happen. The truth is that by tomorrow or the end of the week, you will probably have forgotten all about this idea, this decision... unless you do something to cement it in, and the best way to do that is to take action right away and get started, wherever you are.
