Most people never start investing because they're convinced they're not smart enough. "I don't know how the stock market works. I'm not smart enough for this. I don't have a finance degree." And I get it. For a long time that was true. Being good at investing used to require being smart enough to do it yourself.
That part isn't true anymore.
The Fear Is The Problem
The belief that you have to be an Einstein-level genius to invest is one of the oldest lies in personal finance, and it's almost completely manufactured. There's an entire industry built around convincing regular people that investing is something only experts can do. Brokers, financial advisors, even banks. They all make money from the fear that you can't handle this on your own.
That fear used to be kind of fair. To pick a stock well, you had to know how to read quarterly reports, build a financial model in Excel, understand the difference between a P/E ratio and a yield, and follow macroeconomics well enough to know when the market was overvalued. You had to spend years learning this stuff or hire someone who already had. There wasn't really a middle path.
I know because I built my own investing education the long way, and it took me years. I started when I was just 12 years old... I read books, watched videos, made mistakes, kept going. It worked. But it wasn't fast, and it wasn't easy, and I had to become smart enough to make it work.
But it doesn't have to be like that anymore.
The Free Intelligence Shift
Here's what I've been starting to understand, and I think most people haven't caught up to yet. When intelligence is free or nearly free, being smart no longer matters the way it used to. It's not that being smart is pointless. It's that the constraint has changed.
AI is designed to make intelligence basically free. You can think with it, learn with it, ask it questions in plain English, and get answers that used to require a person with a finance degree or years of experience. You can ask it to walk you through a financial statement, explain a concept you don't understand, or help you think through whether a specific stock fits your goals. It does this in seconds. It doesn't judge you. It doesn't charge you by the hour.
I was telling someone in the gym the other day that something which took me about five years to learn can be figured out in three days now because of AI. That's not a sales pitch. That's just what's true.
What Actually Changes For You
If you've been telling yourself you're not smart enough to invest, or you don't know enough, or you need to learn more before you start, here's the honest answer. You don't. You can be smart enough because of AI. You just have to be willing to ask the right questions.
And that's the real unlock. AI doesn't replace thinking. It makes thinking accessible to people who couldn't afford to think this way before. Intelligence used to be scarce. Now it's free. What matters isn't how smart you are. It's whether you have the right frameworks and the right questions.
For most people starting from zero, the right questions sound like this.
What kind of account should I open? How much money do I actually need to start? What does it mean to buy a piece of a company? How do I find a first stock? What does it cost me to not know how to invest? How does compounding actually work? What's a dividend? What's a covered call?
AI can answer all of these. It can answer them in your language, at your level, with your specific situation in mind. It can tailor the answer to whether you're a college student with $50 to spare or if you have $100,000 that's just sitting idle in a savings account.
The thing that used to require a degree, a mentor, or a financial advisor is now something you can access in a chat window. That's the shift.
Start Where You Are
This is the part I want to land. The constraint is no longer intelligence. The bottleneck is you actually taking action. It's actually showing up, opening the account, asking the questions, buying your first shares.
I started with $50 every two weeks from a part-time job in college. That was all I could afford. I didn't have a finance degree. I just had a willingness to start and a commitment to keep learning. AI now lets you skip a lot of the slow part of that journey. The five years of figuring things out alone can be compressed to three days. Not because AI does the work for you, but because AI removes the reason you couldn't do the work yourself.
You can be smart enough. The intelligence is free. All you have to do is go learn how to apply it.
If you want to see what this looks like in real life, I am running a free, 3-day challenge where I'll show you exactly how to use AI to actually get started in the stock market for yourself. It's called the First Stock Challenge, because the whole idea is that this is how you actually get your first stock!
