I became a software developer with the help of AI. Not because I needed software. Because I wanted to build a way for people without a finance degree or stock market background to actually start investing, in a way that does not take over their whole life.
What I built is called the 7 Minute Investor. And in this post, I'm going to walk you through it in the same order you would actually use it.
The 7 minutes
The first thing you do when you log in is a daily check-in. It says you showed up. Then you start your seven minutes. Seven items. About one minute each.
That is it. Seven items. Seven minutes. You check all seven and you get your investor streak. Then it says, seven minutes is done. Go build your life. Your money is working for you.
I have been investing since high school. The default model people have in their head is that to be an investor you have to watch charts all day or stare at screens or make it your whole identity. You do not. Doing that might not even be the best way to create a life. There is something to be said for going to work, spending a day with your family, going on a vacation, and letting your money still work for you while you do all that.
There is an idea in Napoleon Hill's Outwitting the Devil he calls hypnotic rhythm. Keep it small. Keep it simple. Daily rhythms are more powerful than doing one thing in a big way one time. Seven minutes works because it builds the rhythm in your life that makes you the type of person who is an investor.
The right checklist. A streak that holds you accountable. You can still have your job. You can still have your life. The system does the work of keeping you on the path.
The snapshot
Right after the daily check-in, the app shows you a snapshot. Total money invested. Total income you have made, both passive income from dividends and semi-passive income from covered calls. And then for each stock you own, a card with the number of shares, your average buy price, the total you have invested, the passive income you have made, the semi-passive income you have made, and your options unlock status when you cross 100 shares of a single stock.
My dad has said this my whole life... He says that if you want to have success in anything, you have to be able to measure it.
This section was built to take the guesswork out. You see your stocks. You see your average buy price. You see how much you invested. You see how much passive and semi-passive income you are making. Because it is really hard to know if you are having success in the stock market if you are just guessing.
The compounding becomes visible in a way it never was for me when I was starting. I was in Excel sheets, formulas, the whole thing. That is learnable. But this is way better. And it lets you see your path and your growth, even when the numbers still feel small.
Milestones and awards
Then there are the milestones and awards. First stock logged. First income. Options unlock at 100 shares. Seven day investor. Thirty day investor. More being added over time.
They light up green as you hit them. The reason I built this section is because there is a verse that says, without a vision, the people perish.
The milestones and awards are there to give you a vision, a path, something to aim for. 100 shares of a single stock is not where most people start. Most regular people will not buy 100 shares on day one. But having it as a target means your dream of becoming an investor does not quietly die. The system gives you the tools to make the dream real. The awards are the moments that tell you it is working.
Your goals, your vision
The last section is the one that matters most. Your goals, your vision, your numbers.
You are going to have different goals than I have. Or your brother. Or your friend. There is no one right way to invest or one set of goals to go after.
This is built on what you build in Day 3 of the First Stock Challenge. You put your own goals in. A dollar a month in passive income so you never pay for Spotify again. A thousand a month in five years. Whatever you are after. You build it in, and the software tracks your progress toward it with a progress bar.
I think about my little sister, who started investing before she ever got to high school. Her goals were a lot different than mine. Or a friend from the bank who finally invested in a quantum computer company, totally different profile than anything I would have bought, but it fit his goals. Or my brother, who recently started selling covered calls, who I walked through it over a couple of Chick-fil-A lunches in the middle of the work day, who is now playing with his own strategy and finding his own goals.
I did not want to give you my goals. I wanted to give you a spot where you can take what we build on Day 3, your personal investment plan aimed around your goals, your life, what you want, and let you build something out that will let you reach your goals in your way.
Paint your own vision of the future. Then go after it.
